Our team is comprised of experienced professionals who have honed their craft through extensive training and years of teaching experience.

We take immense pride in the caliber and dedication of our teachers. Each instructor possesses a deep-rooted passion for the practice of yoga and a genuine commitment to guiding others on their personal journeys of self-discovery and well-being. With their unwavering dedication, they create a supportive and inspiring environment for students to explore the transformative power of yoga. Whether you are a seasoned practitioner or new to the practice, our teachers are here to guide you with expertise, compassion, and a profound understanding of the mind-body connection.

Vinyasa

Vinyasa means linking movement with breath. During your yoga practice you will focus on bringing awareness to your breathing and using your breath as a way to guide you through the movements.

Vinyasa yoga is a dynamic practice where you move through a flow of different yoga poses. Often in each vinyasa yoga class you’ll practice many of the same postures, but approaching them in a different order and way based on the theme you’re focused on in class.

Vinyasa yoga is quite unique in the fact that there is really a balance between flexibility, strength and balance. So not only focusing on flexibility, but also learning how to use and build strength and balance in the body.

Power

Power yoga is a dynamic, fast-paced workout designed to boost cardiovascular health while enhancing strength and flexibility through vigorous yoga postures. The specifics of power yoga can vary by location, but most classes share some key features:

Strength-building: In power yoga, poses are often held for up to a minute, targeting specific muscle groups to build strength.

Aerobic workout: Power yoga emphasizes increasing heart rate and burning calories with a full-body workout, earning it the nickname “gym yoga.”

Vinyasa-style blend: At least half of the postures in a power yoga class are derived from Vinyasa yoga, where breath and movement are synchronized.

Bikram

Hot 26 is a sequence of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises. We focus on one posture at a time, perfecting alignment while building strength and mental endurance.

The postures are performed in the same order every class, and do not include poses like downward dog, chaturanga, upward dog, or plank. Each posture is held stationary for 30-60 seconds.

This practice was designed to benefit specific bodily systems in a particular sequence, promoting mental relaxation and enhancing physical fitness.

Bhakti

I was born and raised in northern Norway, but for the past 12 years, I’ve called Stellenbosch my home. My journey with yoga and mindfulness began 17 years ago, and for the past decade, I have been fortunate enough to share my knowledge and passion through teaching. My initial training took place at YogaLife in Cape Town, where I immersed myself in the practices of vinyasa and power yoga. Since then, I have continued to expand my skill set by delving into mindful Yin and Bhakti yoga, as well as undertaking advanced studies in anatomy, yoga adjustments, functional yoga, and hip anatomy.

Creating an environment that fosters a strong sense of community is something that deeply resonates with me. I believe in the power of conversation and connection, and I strive to incorporate these elements into my teaching approach. My classes are influenced by the profound interconnectedness found in nature, everyday experiences, and the unending journey of self-discovery. I encourage each student to dive into their practice, following what feels good in their own body. Throughout the class, I hold space for you to be your authentic self, approaching each moment with curiosity, tenderness, and a focus on deep breaths.

Hatha

Judy has been practicing yoga and pilates for the past 25 years. She completed her teacher training with Johannes de Villiers at The Hot Yoga Studio in Stellenbosch before COVID and has been freelance teaching Vinyasa, Bikram, and Yin in the corporate environment.

In her practice, she encourages a return to the foundation principles of building strength and flexibility through mindful movement. She believes that yoga has no ego and that each client’s practice is their unique and intentional journey. She encourages a focus on attention and awareness to form over depth to build strength in safe practice for longevity.

She has 3 adult sons who have all been encouraged to practice from a young age and still do!

Calming the mind is yoga, not just standing on YOUR head.
