Frequently Asked Questions
General
How hot is hot?
All our classes are heated.
Temperatures vary but in general, classes are above 32 °C with high humidity.
Take it slow if it is your first time in a hot studio. Whether you’re new to yoga or a seasoned regular, your body needs time to acclimate to the high temperatures. Sweating will help to maintain normal body temperature.
What do I need to bring to class?
Mats & Towels
Please bring your own yoga mat & towel to class. If you don’t have a mat, you can rent one of ours. For hygiene reasons we ask that people bring a towel to put on top of the studio mats. There are towels at the studio as well – they have a R30 fee, as we need to wash them after each use.
Water
Please bring sufficient water to class. Hydration is important!
Even after your finished, make sure you keep drinking more water than usual to replenish your fluids.
Do you have heated classes during loadshedding?
Our studio is off the grid and offers heated classes even if there is loadshedding!
We had a few teething problems in the beginning, but these have all been sorted out.
Late Arrivals
Our classes begin precisely at the scheduled time, and for security reasons, the studio will be locked once the class has started. Unfortunately, if you arrive late and the class is already in session, you will not be able to join.
Please keep in mind that traffic and parking in Stellenbosch can be challenging. We recommend allowing extra time to arrive and get settled in the studio. The doors open 30 minutes before class.
If you have a booking and realize you won’t make it, you can reschedule via the Bookamat app to avoid losing your credit. We regret that we cannot restore credits after a missed session.

The Bookamat app is a PWA (progressive web app). They work the same as normal phone apps, but are not in the app stores.
To install, click here and choose your device type. If you need help installing the app, please let us know.
How do I use Bookamat?
You can use Bookamat to book a spot in our classes.
Click here for their simple user guide that explains how to register, book & manage your bookings from your phone, tablet or desktop.
Can I use my credits to book for a friend?
You can book and pay on behalf of up to 5 other (“relationships”) using your Bookamat account.
A relationship can be a friend, wife, husband, son or daughter etc. When you create a relationship, you will become the “payee” for that account and can buy passes and schedule credits on their behalf.
Please click here to see how to do it.
Can I cancel/reschedule my booked class?
Please use the reschedule, rather than the cancel option, as this will retain your credit.

What is Vinyasa Yoga?
In Vinyasa Yoga, the body moves in sync with the breath. Moving in alignment with inhales and exhales, the focus is on creating fluid and smooth movements. Vinyasa yoga is a strongly asana-based (physical postures) style of practice. It usually includes lots of Sun-Salutation poses. These allow previously static asanas to become more dynamic. Taking influence from Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa can offer more fast-paced sequences of flow or can be slowed down to focus on varying needs.
What is Bikram?
A Birkam class involves a set series of 26 poses, each of which must be performed in an exact order and repeated twice within a 90-minute period. The linked poses are designed to warm & stretches muscles, ligaments, and tendons.
Our classes are only 60 minutes, so the practise is a slight adaptation.
What is Power Yoga?
Yoga isn’t the first form of exercise that comes to mind when you think about workouts that increase strength and get your heart rate pumping.
Power yoga is among the most vigorous styles of yoga and is practiced at a notably faster pace. It is designed to increase cardiovascular fitness, endurance & muscular strength. Poses tend to involve utilizing most major muscles of the body.
Unlike Bikram yoga, wherein there’s a set, exact sequence of specific poses, the sequence of poses followed in a power yoga workout can be more variable.
What is Yin Yoga?
Yin yoga is a quiet contemplative practice.
Yin yoga works deeply into our body with passive, longer-held poses.
It targets the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues – ligaments, joints, bones, the deep fascia networks of the body and the meridians. This is in contrast to a Yang yoga practice such as Vinyasa yoga which targets the muscles.
A Yin yoga class usually consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body – the hips, pelvis, inner thighs & lower spine.
